Affiliate disclosure
How LVR earns money: some links to Viator may earn us a commission. Where we disclose it, what it does and doesn't change, and what we never accept.
The short version
LVR earns money from some of the links on this site. When you click certain links and then book, the company you book with may pay us a commission. That's how we pay for the time it takes to research and check our guides.
Commissions don't decide what we recommend, and we include the do-it-yourself option whenever it works, even though it earns us nothing.
Who pays us
Right now, LVR's affiliate links go to Viator, through the Viator Partner Program. Viator pays us a commission on some bookings made after a reader clicks one of our links.
We don't currently have affiliate links with any other company. If we add another program, we'll name it on this page and update the date at the top before its links go live.
LVR is independent. We aren't owned, operated or endorsed by Viator, and Viator doesn't review or approve our guides.
How it works
- Our links to Viator include a code that tells Viator the visit came from LVR. The code identifies LVR, not you.
- Under Viator's partner terms, a booking can count toward our commission if it's made within 30 days of your click, and Viator tracks this with its own cookies. Viator alone decides which bookings qualify.
- Commissions are paid on completed bookings, net of cancellations and refunds. If you cancel, we don't get paid for that booking.
- Viator sets the price you pay and is the seller for your booking. LVR doesn't add fees or take payments, and we can't see or change your booking.
Which links can earn us money
- Tour cards. These boxes show a tour's name, starting price, rating and details from Viator, with a "Check dates & prices" button. Links in tour cards are affiliate links.
- Links to a tour or activity on Viator within a guide's text.
Links to official tourism sites, transit operators, government pages, museums and other sources are ordinary links. We don't earn anything from them. Behind the scenes, we also mark affiliate links as "sponsored" in the page code, as search engines ask.
Where you'll see this disclosure
You shouldn't have to find this page to learn that a link can earn us money. So:
- In a guide: any guide with affiliate links carries a short note near the top, before the first such link. For example: "We earn a commission if you book through some links in this guide. It doesn't change how we pick."
- On tour cards: each card names its source (for example, "Info from Viator") and the date we checked it.
- On every page: the site footer notes that some links may earn LVR a commission, and links here.
Live supplier data
Tour cards show information supplied by Viator on the date shown on the card. Prices, availability, ratings and terms can change after that date.
- A "from" price is the lowest starting price the supplier listed. It isn't a quote. Your total depends on the date, group size, options, taxes and fees.
- Ratings and review counts are Viator's figures. They describe other travelers' opinions, not ours.
- Before you pay, check the final price, meeting point, what's included, language and cancellation terms on the booking page.
What we don't accept
- No paid placement. No company can pay to appear in a guide, to be ranked higher, or to get a better review.
- No pay-for-review deals. We don't accept money in exchange for coverage.
- No hidden freebies. If we ever receive a free or discounted tour, stay or product from a company we write about, the guide will say so where we mention it.
- No sponsored content today. If we ever publish it, it will be clearly labeled as sponsored at the top, before you start reading.
